The youth work program was born from the simple idea that humanity, tolerance and compassion are not just beautiful concepts, but values that you can live every day. With the Red Cross, you can gain new knowledge and skills, meet people who share the same values and spend your free time in a truly meaningful way.

Some of the activities we carry out:
educational workshops in schools, kindergartens and universities
assistance to the elderly, the sick and persons with disabilities
protecting the environment and promoting a healthy lifestyle
celebrating important dates such as World First Aid Day, Earth Day, International Youth Day and many others.
We are here not only to listen, but also to make decisions. At the national level, we have our own Assembly and the Youth Board of the Croatian Red Cross.
Since 2025, youth also elect their representatives to the highest decision-making bodies within the Croatian Red Cross - two members in the General Assembly and one member in the Governing Board. This means that your voice now counts where key decisions are made!

Croatian Red Cross Youth Competition
The Youth Competition of the Croatian Red Cross has existed since 1996, and more than 130,000 primary and secondary school students have participated to date. It is carried out in cooperation with the Education and Teacher Training Agency and is included in their Catalogue of Competitions and Exhibitions.
Knowledge about the Red Cross, human rights and children's rights is tested, but the focus is on first aid, both theory and practice, with realistically presented incidents and injuries awaiting the contestants.
And that is why this competition is our strongest "gateway" for new volunteers, as most people decide to stay with the Croatian Red Cross precisely after going through the Competition.
International cooperation
International cooperation opens the door to global trends and broadens the horizons for young people, and everything you learn, you bring back home, into your community.
This cooperation takes place through international camps, trainings, seminars and meetings. Every year, with the support of the Croatian Red Cross, our volunteers travel to camps, the most famous of which are the Mediterranean youth camp Atlantis and the youth camp of the Austrian Red Cross in Langenlois, but there are also many others where our volunteers regularly participate.
In addition to camps and trainings, our volunteers present the work of the Croatian Red Cross youth at international meetings and conferences, where they participate in the creation of strategies and action plans of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies at the European and global levels.
