Croatian Red Cross Membership

Members of the Croatian Red Cross (based on Article 7 of the Statute of the Croatian Red Cross) can be: active, supportive and honorary. The membership is voluntary and the amount of the membership fee is determined yearly by the Governing Board decision. Membership fee for active members in 2006 was 12 kuna, and for active – youth members was 6 kuna. Voluntary blood donors are active members who are not obliged to pay membership fee.

Supportive members can be Croatian and foreign citizens and legal entities who oblige to assist the Croatian Red Cross in its humanitarian activities (through sponsorship or some other form of assistance).

Honorary members are public persons who contributed to the general development of the Croatian Red Cross and the Republic of Croatia with their humanitarian work and exceptional merits.

Articles 9 and 10 of the Statute of the Croatian Red Cross regulate rights and duties of the members. According to data of 31 December 2004, Croatian Red Cross had 358 328 members.
