Croatian Red Cross is a full member of National HIV/AIDS Commission of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. All activities linked to HIV/AIDS are implemented in compliance with the National strategy coordinated by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
Activities include informing and educating the population on HIV/AIDS. During the whole year, and especially for the World AIDS Day - December 1, local Red Cross branches organize public discussions, lectures, radio and TV shows, and distribute informative leaflets, posters, bookmarks and condoms.
Croatian Red Cross cooperates with the Croatian Association for HIV and Department of Reproductive Health of Children's Hospital Zagreb in the implementation of the educational program "Memo AIDS".
Croatian Red Cross actively implements Harm Reduction program among high-risk population of injecting drug users. Harm reduction programs in Zagreb and Zadar for injecting drug users include counselling, free of charge and anonymous HIV/AIDS testing and sending clients to Institutes of Public Health for further testing and counselling.
